"Obtaining a visum to come to The Netherlands felt like I climbed the Himalayas. But that was just the beginning... Now I live and work in The Netherlands and every 6 months I am scared whether my visum will be extended. I have established a nice life in The Netherlands, but it depends on a visum and a lot of conditions all the time… and the possibility of kicking me out of the country is there all the time. It sort of feels like taking away the life I have created for myself.
Can something been done about this? I really hope so, cause we would like to be free too!"

"The most valuable things in my life are usually small ones... Family and friends, rainy days on a summer time, unexpected new people coming to you, different sceneries... Yes, I would probably still be alive without all these values of mine, but what would be the pleasure of sense? Being not able to go out of the country without formal permission from the visiting country (visum), did not stop me from living, and though made us poorer in all potentials for personal development, almost like living in a box...And I believe that nobody would want to live staying closed!"
These are just two examples of two ordinary people having to deal with visa problems. Definitily not something western European students have to deal with! But why is it so hard for South Eastern Europeans to travel? And why is their need to travel so large?
Lecture by David Jan Godfroid, correspondent for NOS Daily Journal in Belgrade.
But look! Our guests are very creative! We just found out from his blog that dr. Godfroid 'slightly' changed the subject of his lecture. Read here! (in Dutch..)
