We believe that some of the most fruitful developments in the Balkan region are
      happening right now in the fields of art, culture and expression.

      Great music, art and film are produced in cultural centers such as Zagreb, Belgrade,
      Skopje, Pristine, Tirana and Sarajevo, just to name a few.

      We created the Balkan Snapshots Film Festival to show how South-East European
      film-makers reflect on their own environment through their films. These films
      should contain artistic, inspired and surprising reflections.

Wanted: short films and documentaries!

      We are looking for works able to use intelligence, originality and irony as
      artistic means to radically change the stereotyped image that Western audiences
      tend to have of the Balkans.

      The program of the festival will be structured into seven separate blocks. Every
      region (Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania) is going
      to be introduced separately and will have a 75 minutes' window in which a selection
      of short films and documentaries produced in that region will be screened.

      We are looking for short films and documentaries. Any length, to a maximum of
      30 minutes, will do. The films do not have to be established or well known; we
      are rather looking for independent films, experimental works and any sort of
      daring and inspiring off-beat creation. The films should be recent, on DVD format
      and subtitled in English.

      We would be very happy to mainly show material of young upcoming artists, as
      they represent a new generation with fresh and original points of view.

      Balkan Snapshots Film Festival is an Amsterdam based non-profit student initiative. We
      are on a tight budget, so we hope that we can meet some young directors that are willing
      to have their work shown in Amsterdam.

      The festival will take place in Amsterdam, on 9th, 10th and 11th of October 2008.
